How to use Amber Electric discount codes (Australia)

Amber Electric Referral Codes

I’ve been using Amber for 6 months. This page describes how to get extra value from your Amber plan by sharing their referrals.

Amber Electric use a referral system where you get $10 off per month for each person you refer to Amber. This goes for 12 months, so that’s $120 per person who uses your code. I’ve been using Amber for 6 months and the bill credit from the referrals is quite significant. I think this is because lots of people are currently installing batteries and joining Amber.

Here’s how to get started.

Step 1 – Sign up with Amber

When you sign up with Amber Electricity use a discount code to gain $120 off for yourself over the first 12 months. ($10 per month).

Use my code – type UVE49PMR promo code when you get to the checkout, or signup using the mates rates page. Or you may already have a code that you have from a friend or other website.

Step 2 – Get your own code

Once you have signed up for Amber, you can go into to the Amber app, press settings, and get your own ‘Amber Mates Rates’ referral code. Here’s a screenshot of where to get the code in your Amber phone app.

Step 3 – Reddit

Share your promo code here on Reddit

Step 4 – Facebook

Share your promo code in the Facebook Amber codes group.

Step 5 – Ozbargain

Share your promo code here on the Ozbargain thread.

I shared my code in all those places. For each person who uses your code, you’ll get $10 per month off your Amber bill.

How do Amber referral credits actually work?

Amber describe their referral program in a help article here. Amber’s referral program lets you share your own referral code with friends and family. There’s no limit to how many people you can refer or how much credit you can earn, but the codes can go stale after a period of time. That’s why it’s important to use a fresh code.

You can find your referral code in the Amber app under Settings: Amber Mates Rates.

FAQs

1. How does the Amber referral code work?

When someone else signs up using your code, you and they both receive $10 off your electricity bill each month for 12 months. That’s a total of $120 each. The credit is automatically applied to your bill.

2. Where do I enter my Amber referral code?

You can enter the referral code during the sign-up process in the Amber app or website.

3. Is there a limit to how many people I can refer?

No. Amber’s referral program allows you to refer as many friends as you like. Each successful referral earns you and your friend the same monthly bill credit for 12 months.

4. Does my code ever expire?

YEs it does expire after a period of time. If you go back into the app and press ‘Claim my code’ then if it gives you the same code it’s still valid. If it gives you a new code the old one has expired and you need to hand out the new one.

5. How do I use my credit?

The credit is added to your bill. If your credit accumulates, you can withdraw credit into your bank account 4 times per year.

6. Can i post my code anywhere?

There are quite strict rules about where you can post referral codes. If you post your code on a general Amber forum, for example a Facebook page or reddit thread you will likely get banned. The best place to post your codes is on a specific referral thread like the ones I have linked to above. These threads are designed to share codes in. Search for ‘referral codes’ to find a place to post your code.

7. Is Amber cheaper than other providers?

In my experience, Amber is not the cheapest provider. But they are different. Amber give you wholesale prices, that change every 5 minutes. These rates reflect the actual cost of electricity. If you use your electricity in peak times, Amber will be more expensive. If you can control your usage to be in off peak times, Amber may be cheaper.

8. What will my bill look like?

Here’s an example of my bill for a month.
