How to get rid of the Avid-link menu.

I installed some Avid software and this menu item appeared. Most of these drop-down menu items have a preferences option where you can turn them off, but not so with Avid. There is no option to turn it off. I went into system preferences/users/login items which is normally where you turn something off and it wasn’t there either. The answer was to go to a file Library/LaunchAgents/com.avid.ApplicationManager.plist file and edit the line that says RunAtLoad key to false. Complicated!

Here’s the menu that I could not delete:

This avid menu item has no way to delete it.

He is a good website that describes how to do this.

How to clean up your ‘Open With’ Menu

Picture 3.jpg

This one is quite an advanced tip.
If you right-click on a file you get a little menu, and if you select ‘open with’ you get a list of all the programs you can open a file with.
After a while of installing new versions of programs, this list can become quite long!

There are lots of little applications you can add to your menubar to do things such as see recent clipboard items, stop your mac going to sleep (eg for presentations) and so on.
