How to reset an iPod shuffle

This morning I went to go for my run and my iPod shuffle was completely dead. No power light. It would not play.  The computer wouldn’t recognise it. It wouldn’t even charge. My iPod is almost 10 years old so I figured it had reached the end of its life.  Then I discovered this little article on the Apple website on how to force-restart an iPod. I tried it and now my iPod is going again.

All you need to do to reset any iPod Shuffle is:

  1. Make sure it is not plugged in.
  2. Turn it off for 10 seconds.
  3. Turn it on again.

A good reminder that in the tech world the FIRST thing you should always try when something isn’t working is turn it off and turn it on again!
