How to get good sound (from video or music) over Zoom

Zoom is optimised for speaking.  If there is any other noise (e.g. a guitar or piano) Zoom will think it is background noise and try to remove it!  To share a movie or song over a zoom meeting you need to change some settings. Here’s how.

Go to Zoom/Preferences/Audio Advanced and select the following options…

It’s best to turn off background noise suppression when playing music like a guitar. “Enable Original Sound” will put the audio from your mic or movie directly to Zoom without noise and echo cancelling.

When sharing a video click these options as you share it to include the sound and optimise the quality.

Do these Zoom audio processing settings affect shared computer sound as well, or just audio from the mic?

I’ve often wondered the same… Logic seems to dictate the mic only, but… It would be nice to have a definitive answer.

Unfortunately, it only affects audio from the mic currently. Try playing some video or recording vith classical music (for instance Hanz Zimmer Now we are free) and you will hear that Zoom destroys the music regardless what setting you use.
