There seems to recently a second wave of AI , the explosion of AI assistants built on the back of Chat GPT and co, with varying features, and in varying states of development. I have a very specific goal that I’d like to achieve. I am bamboozled by the amount of different communication channels I have. I’ve got a party coming up this week but where were the details? Was it a WhatsApp message? Was it an email? Hang on I think someone slacked me about it, or did they send me a text? Sometimes it can take me five minutes just to find an old message. So I want one app that can access all my communication and deliver to me exactly what I need.
I want to be able to say “when is the pool party this week?” and it will say, it’s at 5 pm on Thursday, here’s the WhatsApp wth all the details.
I haven’t found this exact application yet but here are some of the contenders, and I don’t think we are too far off.
I entered all my communication into these apps and then asked them “When is the pool party this week?” which could have been answered from WhatsApp, email or texts as I was communicating about it on all 3 platforms. Here are the results.
Cloze.ai
Cloze claims to be able to access iMessage, Slack, Gmail and WhatsApp. (Not Facebook)
Lovely integrations. Works really well when selecting a person and seeing all the communication from that person.
For some reason I could not get it to work with WhatsApp at all. The messages do not appear.
iMessage is flaky, messages appear against the individual but not in the overall mail view.
It’s got a nice interface for seeing everyone’s communication at once, but the AI is pretty weak. It didn’t do a great job of searching through messages to find specific information.
Cloze was a complete failure searching for information, even though it has access to texts and emails, it only searches emails.
It does however have a lovely interface when you select a person and view your communication with them:
Tanka
Very nice setup and interface, but I’m not sure what it does. I can only access unread messages in Whatsapp and email. All the messages disappear once you rad them. Doesn’t sync with iMessage. Perhaps still in development.
Dex
Dex integrates with Facebook, iMessage, WhatsApp, but is more of a contact manager It doesn’t remember messages.
Beeper
Outstanding for messaging – imported all my messaging apps – facebook, WhatsApp, iMessage. Can view and search all your messages in one place!
But… it doesn’t include email and has no AI really, so I can’t ask ‘When is the upcoming Pool party’ but I can search for ‘Party’ across all messaging platforms.
Limitless
This may have been the perfect solution but it’s been acquired by Meta and no longer available. Are Meta scared of it because it will pull people away from facebook/messenger? Or will they relaunch some of it’s features? Who knows.
Littlebird
Littlebird is so close. I love it! But it uses a completely different method than to all the other apps. It monitors every single thing you do on your computer screen and keeps a record of them all. This means it remembers every email I’ve read, every WhatsApp I’ve read, every text that I’ve read. The big limitation is that if I’ve read them on my phone it completely misses them.
I did send an email on my computer about this event, but Littlebird seems to have missed it.

To get the free tier you needed to sign up for $49 per month, then downgrade to the free teir. Doesn’t seem to integrate with iMessage. Very complicated.
